Fuschia: An Irish Mineral Make-Up Miracle

I have had a mad week, settling back to work and running around like a lunatic, it has taken me until today to write a post on my 'Beauty Best' this week. I am really excited about this new range of products I have become totally addicted to, and the best thing of all is they're Irish!

Fuschia is an Irish make-up company which began with a single shop in Drogheda, Co.Louth in November 2005.  Since then Fuschia has taken the country by storm and is stocked in salons all around Ireland. Carol, of Genesis Beauty Clinic in Newmarket-on-Fergus, Co.Clare introduced me to these products and I haven’t looked back since. The range is very extensive, ranging from eye shadows and lipsticks to brushes and foundations. To see a full list of the Fuschia range have a look on the Fuschia Website.

I have been testing out a few of the Fuschia products over the last couple of weeks and have to say I am really impressed! I have never really understood what all the fuss was about with regards Mineral Make-Up….until now. As I discussed before in my 'Find me a Foundation' post, I always look for good coverage in a foundation. Until now, I had a preconceived notion that mineral make up would not provide me with my desired coverage. Well I stand corrected.

I have been using this brilliant ‘Try Me’ Kit in ‘Buff’. This starter pack contains:
1. 3gram trial-size jar of foundation
2. 3gram jar of rice setting powder
3. Mini mineral blush
4. Kabuki Brush for applying the products

The shade ‘Buff’ is a perfect match for my skin tone, it’s really pale, leaving my skin with a porcelain like finish. Carol gave me a few handy tips for the best ways to apply the mineral to your face.
Tip 1: Ensure that you tap the mineral down into the centre of the brush. Do not leave
it all sitting on the top of the bristles.
Tip 2: Work the brush into the skin, buffing over one spot to achieve an even finish. You
will not see immediate coverage. The mineral foundation needs to adapt to your
skin and needs to be built up in layers.
Tip 3: You don’t need much! Use a little mineral at a time and build it up to achieve
the desired coverage. If your skins appears shiny, you have put on too much.
Tip 4: Use the 'Rice Powder' to calm any shine.

Carol went on to say that 'Fuschia mineral foundation guarantees a perfect finish. These silky mineral powders brush onto the skin, easily giving excellent coverage and a lightweight feel. The powders also give a healthy natural glow to all skin types and all ages, and will adapt to suit your skin'.

The 'Try Me Kit' retails for €45.00 and a 5g Mineral Foundation on it's own costs €26.00.

I have also been trying out Fuschsia’s fantastic ‘Gel Liner’. I have used gel liners in the past, mainly MAC. My number one complaint is that the liners become dried out and crumbly in the jar. This liner on the other hand is slick, and wet in appearance and is jet black when applied to the eyes. I like my black eye-liner to be very black…and this Fuschia number doesn’t disappoint. At €18.75 it’s money well spent as for as I’m concerned, as it lasts all day, is completely waterproof, stays black, and doesn’t crack of crease on the lid. This Gel Liner is available in different shades, click here to see the full range. This Gel Liner can also be applied to the inner eye. I like to apply my liner with an angled brush and Fuschia have a great quality, great value brush which does the job perfectly. This ‘Angle Liner’ retails at €11.00, a must for flawless application and is ideal for achieving  intense, even and delicate lines.

It’s so refreshing to come across an Irish make-up company and more importantly an Irish make-up company that is actually really good. Fuschia have attracted an abundance of positive press and after trying out a handful of their products, I can certainly see why. I look forward to exploring the rest of the Fuschia range, but so far can highly recommend their mineral products and gel liner.
