Sometimes, when you have a sweet tooth like mine, finding
healthy dishes to get excited about can be a bit of a challenge. But I have
said it before and will say it again, healthy doesn’t need to mean boring and
tasteless. Finding healthier versions of old favourites can be a fun and
interesting way of developing recipes that you can really come to love. From
time to time, a health kick is needed in life and having a dinner menu filled
with healthy options that sound delicious is a must in order to keep you
interested.
Today’s recipe is an alternative twist on a classic. As you
may well know I am quite the fan of turkey mince and make Turkey Burgers all
the time. Turkey
mince is exceptionally lean meat, packed with protein and low in saturated fats
but more importantly it is really tasty and flavoursome. It can put a fresh
spin on a classic dish by simply substituting this healthy alternative instead
of a mince or pork. This evening, that’s exactly what I decided to do and the
result was surprisingly tasty.

Ingredients
400g turkey mince
1 onion (diced)
3 cloves of garlic (chopped)
1 can of chopped tomatoes
4 tbsp of tomato puree
1 tsp sage
1 tsp thyme
3 nests of Tagliatelle pasta (per person)
Method
1. In a large non stick saucepan, fry off the onions and
garlic. Season well with salt
and pepper.
2. Add the turkey mince to the pan, and fry off until white
in colour. Season well with
salt and pepper.
3. Add the chopped tomatoes, tomato puree and herbs to the pan
and mix well until
the meat is covered
in sauce.
4. Turn the heat down and allow to simmer for 10 minutes.
5. Meanwhile add the desired amount of tagliatelle to a pot
of boiling water (3 nests
per person). Cook
for 10 minutes or until al-dente.
6. Drain the pasta and arrange on a plate. Top with the
turkey bolognaise.

E-D’s Notes
- The above recipe will yield enough bolognaise for four
people, when served with
tagliatelle pasta.
- If pasta isn’t your thing, why not try a baked potato filled
with turkey bolognaise
and topped with
cheddar cheese?

ReplyDeleteTurkey Mince Bolognaise with Tagliatelle is looking just fantabulous. Thanks dear for these recipes. I was also finding some interesting food ideas for my husband’s surprise birthday bash. He likes Spanish food and I found a plenty of recipes for Spanish party foods at Nom Photo App. Tried some of them and they all turned out to be fantastic.
